Particle Separators
By analyzing percentages of forage and feedstuff lengths, you can determine how much long feed material should be added to meet nutritional needs of dairy cows. Ensuring cows obtain minimum fiber levels keeps them from displaying metabolic disorders such as reduced total dry matter digestibility, reduced milk fat percentage, displaced abomasum (DA) and rumen parakeratosis. Reduced forage particle size can decrease the time a cow spends chewing, which can cause decreased rumen pH. Smaller forage particles also spend less time in the rumen, decreasing digestibility. Diets that are too long can reduce intake and limit production.
3-Sieve Forage Particle Separator
Place about 3 dry pints or 8 cups of forage in the top shaker box, then shake and rotate the unit 8 times. Weigh the remaining material on each screen and the bottom pan to calculate percentages of different particle lengths. Includes 4 plastic forage separator boxes — 1 each with 3/4” (19 mm) holes, 5/16” (8 mm) holes, 5/32” (4 mm) holes and a solid bottom. Kit also includes a digital scale, weighing container and instructions.
2-Sieve Forage Particle Separator
Place 7 cups of forage in the top shaker box, then shake and rotate the unit 8 times. Weigh the remaining material on each screen and the bottom pan to calculate percentages of different particle lengths. Sieves measure 5/16” and 3/4”. Deluxe Kit also includes a scale, weighing container and instructions.

Digestion Analyzer Kit
Evaluates rapid by-product passage and cow performance by evaluating livestock manure. Includes 10-gallon plastic bucket (14” dia. x 17”H with handle and lid), 3 stainless steel screens (one each with hole sizes 3/16”, 1/8”, and 1/16”), ladle, 2-qt. plastic scoop, adjustable sprayer nozzle (color may vary) and a box of nitrile gloves.

Forage Sampler
The forage sampler is used worldwide by universities, feed companies and farmers. Ideal method for sampling loose, baled, or chopped hay and grass silage. Available with 3/8” round shank adapter for use with electric drill (electric drill of 1/2 hp or 18V capacity is recommended). Dowel plunger is supplied with each unit to remove moist or packed samples. Shank adapters are quickly and easily removed from tube by depressing a spring-loaded plunger. Fitted with replaceable hardened cutter head and adapter. Made of stainless steel, the tube is 11/8” dia. x 18”L. Sampler comes with standard adapter and round shank for electric drill operation.
